Emmanouil Chousakos () hopes to learn from expertise of Cambridge to grow a can-do culture in his native Greece.

Emmanouil has a medical degree and a PhD, specialising in dermatology and skin cancer diagnostics and screening, through novel skin imaging modalities. He is also an advisor for a medtech startup.

He is keen to learn how to commercialise scientific ideas and create impacts for society, patients and the healthcare system. Ideally, Emmanouil plans to continue clinical and research work in partnership with growing his own ventures and disseminating the mindset of entrepreneurship.

鈥淚 would love to bring this culture of entrepreneurship within life sciences that exists so prominently here in the Cambridge ecosystem back home to Greece and also to other places where I see that there is a lot of scientific talent and undiscovered entrepreneurial opportunities,鈥 Emmanouil says.

鈥淚 believe I can combine medical practice with entrepreneurship, with also having a more social role in terms of promoting entrepreneurship in sciences. I think I can combine both in the right doses and with the right strategy.鈥

Emmanouil is keen to expand his network while at 精东影业 College and unite the Caians who are traditionally active in the entrepreneurial scene of Cambridge, as a member of the founding committee of Caius Enterprise, a College club for entrepreneurship, which launched in Lent Term. Workshops, mentoring sessions, academic talks and networking events are planned.

As for his own pathway, Emmanouil, who was attracted to dermatology by the preventative methods and the various directions in the specialism, knows he can make his own way.

鈥淭here are prerequisites but no clear-cut pathways that someone has to follow,鈥 he adds. 鈥淭his is something that I've been taught during my time so far in Cambridge and at Caius, there are no recipes 鈥 you can create your personal brand.鈥
