The Caius Outreach Team is proud to run a series of schemes, programmes, and events for prospective students.
Cambridge Higher Aspirations Scheme
The Cambridge Higher Aspirations Scheme (CHAS) is open to students in year 12 who attend a state school or college in one of our link areas, and select vacancies were open in 2024-25 to year 12 students at state schools from across the UK. It is a sustained scheme that offers academic support and enrichment, giving you the opportunity to take part in a series of six academic supervisions, summer application sessions, and a selective residential in the Easter holidays. CHAS 2025 applications for link area students closed at midday on Friday 18th October 2024, and applications for our extra vacancies closed at midday on Monday 11th November 2024. Caius 12
Caius 12 is a sustained programme open to students in year 12 / S5 / year 13 NI who attend a state school or college in the UK. It features four informative and interactive sessions that aim to inspire you to consider competitive universities and help you with planning the application process. In 2025, it is taking place between January and March. Applications for 2025 closed at midday on 16 December 2024. You can read more here.
Caius Explore - open now
Caius Explore is a scheme open for entries from student who attend a state school or college in the UK. It is designed for students in year 12 / S5 / year 13 NI. We challenge you to attempt the subject explorations designed by our academics! You might write a response to a poem, design a house, grapple with the problems of climate change, or think about how AI might change how we study maths. We invite the authors of our favourite entries to a special event at Caius during the summer. We launched 2025's tasks on 26 March and entries are open until 30 July 2025. You can read more here.
Year 12/13 Summer Study Evenings - open now
Our Summer Study Evenings are online sessions for students who have just finished year 12/S5/year 13 NI at a UK state school or college. In these sessions, you will be guided through subject-specific material by an academic mentor; each session has been designed to help you develop skills which we hope will help you in making a competitive Cambridge application. Applications are now open and the deadline for signing up is 12:00 pm midday Wednesday 23rd July. You can read more here.
Subject Taster Evenings
Our Subject Taster Evenings are open to year 12 / S5 / year 13 NI who attend a state school or college in the UK. They offer the opportunity to hear from an academic about the course at Cambridge, experience a taste of Cambridge teaching, and ask questions to both an academic and current students in the subject. We encourage students to sign up to as many as they like. In 2025, these are running from 17th April to 15th May. Sign ups were open from 10th March 2025 until 12:00 midday on 1st April 2025. Eleven-Up
Eleven-Up is a sustained programme open to students in year 11 / S4 / year 12 NI who attend a state school in the UK. It features five informative and interactive sessions that aim to help you with subject exploration and inspire you to consider competitive universities. In 2025, it is taking place between January and March, with applications closing on 13 December 2024. You can read more here.
Caius 9&10
Caius 9&10 is a sustained programme open to students in year 9 and 10 who attend a state school in one of our link areas. It features five informative and interactive sessions that aim to introduce you to subject exploration and expose you to a taste of university teaching.
