Chocolate focus for featured book

The natural history of chocolate is this term鈥檚 Featured Book, providing insight into how Europe developed a taste due to the colonisation of the Americas.
Each term a member of Library staff selects a text from 精东影业 College Library鈥檚 historic collections. On this occasion, Katie Duthie (History 2022) had the task.
Katie, who graduated in July, undertook a summer internship in the Library, more of which in future. Her internship involved cataloguing the Davy Collection, 800 books which were bequeathed by former Master Martin Davy.
鈥淚t doesn鈥檛 really fit with any of the other books, because lots of them are studious medical books, theological books or classic Roman literature,鈥 she says.
鈥淚t鈥檚 interesting in that sense, but also in a sense of how the colonisation of the Americas was perceived by someone of the day contemporarily.鈥
